The soap is a lifesaver for dog owners – it's a natural odour eater! It contains coffee beans to neutralise pungent smells (even fox poo pong) and bergamot oil, a gentle antiseptic. It also contains lavender to sooth your pooch during bathing, and repel insects in between baths! The soap contains no artificial additives, preservatives or colourings. It's 100% vegan. 100g

This wonderful soap is made by Labyrinth, a truly charming company who really adore dogs! Labyrinth handmade soaps contain only pure, natural and vegan ingredients: no artificial chemicals, preservatives, animal fats or animal derivatives whatsoever. They use the traditional method of soap making known as cold kettle, or cold process, to make these natural handmade soaps - and the soap is cured in small, handmade wooden frames. All the soaps are all individually crafted - no two are alike. They look and feel handmade - because that's exactly what they are! Labyrinth also use only 'food grade' plant oils & extracts, organics, botanicals, and essential oils. The palm oil used is from a regulated sustainable source.

Ethical good stuff:

  • Animal welfare - 100% Vegan; 100% Natural (no nasties); not tested on animals; producer supports a non-testing leukaemia charity.
  • Environmentally friendly - Uses sustainably grown palm oil; packaged minimally; very low "soap-miles" (made in the UK).
  • Ethically traded - Supporting the craft economy
  • Charity work: Labyrinth support a (non-testing) leukaemia charity.

Could do better:

  • Eco-Issue: Not Organic (and could be, though the certification system is difficult for small scale manufacturers).

Bathe your dog gently in warm water, avoiding the eyes, mouth and ears. Pay close attention to the shoulders and neck, as this is where those stinky smells lurk.

Top Tips: If your dog doesn’t like bath time this soap is a good choice because the lavender fragrance is very calming. Try rubbing soap into the chest area first so the lavender vapours are close to your doggies nose. Also, try using our Valerianea tincture or Pet Remedy Natural Calming Spray in the barthoom before the bath.

During the bath use a shower hose close to your dog (rather than a jug) to wash the soap off. This is little quieter and quicker, and so less upsetting for your dog, however, be wary of sudden temperature changes if your shower is prone to this. Talk to your dog in a soothing voice throughout and keep a firm grip on their collar – you can always remove and dry out the collar after the bath.

Also... close the bathroom door... and the front door... you don't want to be chasing your soap sodden dog down the road barefoot eh!?

"We’ve also been using the fabulous Mucky Pup shampoo bar, which has been used a couple of times now and promises to last for many more baths. Vulpe doesn’t seem to mind it one little bit and smells very sweet when she’s all finished! Her fur also becomes wonderfully fluffy for a good while afterwards :) Here she is all wrapped up warm after her first bath..." from Vulpe's Adventures in Manchester
